Given that, and the context in which it plays, it is pleasing to report that "Radar" is a good, decent, strong record. If you resist the temptation to compare it to the original records of the early Seventies, it can stand very well on its own accord.
The group lineup remains the same: original members Billy Payne, Sam Clayton, Kenny Gradney, Richie Hayward and Paul Barrere, augmented by the wonderfully tasty Fred Tackettt and a slightly toned down for the better Shaun Murphy, whose vocal contributions werent quite there the last time out.
Interestingly, its Murphys movingly personal contributions that really make this album work, which is ironic for a group that has long survived on master instrumentation and, at times, quirky vocals and songs. This is not a great record, by any means, but it should make Feat fans happy.
