Congratulations to The Mike Crandall Band, winners of the CT Blue's Society's Best Blues Band of 1999. Mike, Joe Vic and the rest of the band were up against some pretty good competition. Let's all wish them well and good luck in the National Finals in Nashville. Check them out when you can and see why they are the best!
Speaking of the best, this Thursday September 23rd, Ron's Guitars in Groton is having a terrific workshop. Appearing will be Tribal Tech featuring Scott Henderson and Gary Willis. Henderson formed the band Tribal Tech in 1984. In 1991 & 1992 he was named the #1 Jazz Guitarist by Guitar World. As well as being a faculty member at the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, he is also considered one of today's true jazz visionaries. The last time these musicians were at Ron's Guitars the place sold out. Being that the place will only hold 80 people I suggest getting your tickets early!
A Nashville transportation company has come up with a novel way to
promote its services and fulfill music fans dreams in the process. Majestic Coach
is giving people the chance to go on tour (sort of) with country and rock n
roll artists. People who sign up for Gigtours will hit the road with the artist in their
own tour bus complete with their own driver and tour manager. (No word yet if the tour
manager will abuse the participants if they dont get up on time or withhold their
per diem if they misbehave).
In return for their cooperation, the artists will get to use a Majestic Coach bus
at no charge, which is nice because transportation is a major touring budget item.
Majestic Coach handles all the arrangements for the "guest" bus and even screens
the participants. The transportation company has not announced which artists will be
involved in Gigtours, but president/CEO Donny Michael said, "Its a
win-win for both sides and the response has been very enthusiastic."
At long last, the confirmed lineup and schedule for the Family
Values Tour is here. Limp Bizkit will be joined by Filter, The
Crystal Method, DMX, Method Man, and Redman for the 28-date rap
n roll excursion.
The fun begins September 21st in Pittsburgh and ends with a Halloween show in Biloxi,
Miss. Family Values boasts full productions - complete with full-on stage design, lasers
and pyro - for all the acts. Video game giant Sega of America is sponsoring the tour and
will showcase its new Sega Dreamcast system at each stop.
